Panama with Kenn and Kim Kaufman:
Canopy Tower & Canopy Camp
January 25 - February 5, 2017
Don't miss this opportunity to spend 10 days birding in Panama with Kenn and Kim Kaufman!
Upon arrival in Panama City, we will transfer to the extremely unique Canopy Tower, a former US Air Force radar tower in the midst of Soberania National Park. Canopy Tower will be our base of operations for the next 5 nights. The birding is spectacular from the Tower itself and we will be sure to spend plenty of time birding from the observation deck. The birding hotspots surrounding the Tower will provide the opportunity to build a large and varied list of species while at Canopy Tower. In addition to the bird life, we'll look for a variety of mammals including Kinkaju, Panamanian Night Monkey, Two-toed and Three-toed Sloths, Geoffroy's Tamarin, and others.
From Canopy Tower, we will move on to Canopy Camp in the Darién. The protected forests of the Darién offer some of the most incredible birding and wildlife watching opportunities in all of Central America. Canopy Camp offers a great list of regional specialty species including Gray-cheeked Nunlet, White-headed Wren, Spectacled Parrotlet, Double-banded Graytail, Black Oropendola, and many more!
Our special guests for this tour, Kenn and Kim Kaufman, are eager to share their knowledge and passion for birds and wildlife throughout the tour. In the evenings, we can gather to hear their tales of travels and birds and, on some days, see the bird sketches and drawings that Kenn has worked on during the day.
